Your New Investment might have a past that could impact your family’s health and your wallet.
Methamphetamine use is on the rise in Australia and the chance of buying a contaminated property is getting higher.

Australian National Drug Survey 2019 found that 1 in 75 people used methamphetamines in the last 12 months and 50% of them used it 2-4 times daily. That’s a lot of houses that have had methamphetamine smoke or manufacture in them.

Methamphetamine contamination is not visible and detection may only be detected when someone is suffering from illness – headaches, nausea, respiratory difficulty, eye irritation, trouble with sleeping and behavioural problems.

Once purchased, the home is yours including the methamphetamine contamination and decontamination costs. Costing you thousands of dollars or potential strip out (removing wall lings, doors, floorcoverings, kitchens etc) to make it is safe for your family to inhabit.

The Danger of buying a house without a methamphetamine test is:

  • Methamphetamine contaminated houses cause health conditions to the occupant’s, most at risk are children, people with allergies and the elderly. The people you most care about.
  • As the property owner you have to pay for the clean-up $5,000 – $20,000 or higher
